I got a little more adventurous and trieda moreintricate rooster puzzle. The orange-ish rooster is made of 3/4" plywood. The grey/stripped rooster is from an old cedar fence plank.I sanded it down just enough to give it that weird stripped look. Why?I don't know, just seemed more interesting that way.It probably would have made a better zebra or tiger but whatever.

Merry Christmas Ornaments

More scroll saw work.I decided to spread a little Christmas joy and gave everyone in the family a few ornaments for the tree.

Impromptu bird house construction. The top hinges from the back to clean the top area, but the bottom two spaces would have to be cleaned through the entry holes.

A little scroll saw action for that fire engine and a bit of wood burning for the ambulance.

As you can see, my projects are few and far between. This swing was simply a finishing project for my neighbors.I found this swing to be like all other finishing work I've done, simple yet time consuming. But hey, lately all I have is time. And yes, I forgot to take a picture of the finished product.Everyone knows what a porch swing looks like right?

I suppose a few pictures of the actual "man space" are in order. It's a beautiful little cave.My space heater broke a few weeks ago so time spent in there has been quite limited by the cold weather.

Projects: The blue spatula is from our kitchen and seemed simple enough to make a wooden copy. It's not complete but close.Just needs a little more sanding to finish out the form and then the "food safe" finish.
The wood is cherry.I'm fortunate enough to have a friend with some property and one day when we happened across a HUGE cherry tree that had been laid down by a summer storm. We sectioned it out and I took a piece.
The picture of the fire engine is on deck.Just gotta find a piece of wood to fit it.Scroll saw here I come.I envision the finished product to be similar to the ambulance that's in the picture but with better burned-in detail.

A new day, a new animal

About 6 inches of snow on the ground this morning.Nashville's lucky it's the weekend!

This tiger is from the same book as the bunny.I'm not sure what kind of wood it is.I go to Woodcraft Supply in Franklin, TN, http://www.woodcraft.com, occasionally to rummage through their scrap box.Every now and then I find an interesting piece and more often than not I have no idea what type of wood it is.Does it really matter though? As long as it finishes out nice, I don't really care.
